The Art of Deconstructed Dishes

If you’ve taken a look at this week’s menu, you’ll see that we’re offering a Chicken Pot Pie without a phyllo pastry shell, a Pork Spring Roll without the rice paper wrapping and Lasagna without the layers. Do you feel like you woke up and missed something that everyone else knows? No, we promise we’re not going crazy. We’ve deconstructed our dishes to invent a new and unique way to enjoy the classics.

So what ARE deconstructed dishes?!

Deconstruction of a dish is not simply taking a dish, separating the components and placing them in piles on a plate. It’s about separating the components and then recombining them in unexpected (but still delicious) ways. More than a technique, deconstruction is a method of changing the form and presentation of the dish – but not the basic nature of the dish. The most important thing is that you are still able to taste the original dish – but in a different, unique way.

Chicken_Pot_Pie_Buttermilk_Biscuits

Chicken Pot Pie has to to be one of the most classic, comforting recipes out there. In our Irish Chicken Pot Pie with chives and biscuits, we’ve got your delicious pot pie filling but instead of baking puff pastry on top, we’ve got fluffy biscuits on top. Comfort food never tasted as good as this creamy pot pie topped with easy homemade biscuits!

Pork_Spring_Rolls_WEB

Traditional Asian-inspired food is typically composed of bright, simple flavours and fresh ingredients. Normally the ingredients in our Pork Spring Roll Bowl would be wrapped in a chewy rice wrap but this time, we’re deconstructing it with the “chewy rice wrap” being reinvented into noodles. Try our deconstructed spin on Pork Spring Roll Bowl with carrots, celery and rice noodles.

Vegetarian_Lasagna_WEB

Lasagna – the ultimate Italian comfort food, is usually a time-consuming endeavour that involves gathering ALL the ingredients, layering them, and baking. Our deconstructed version of Vegetarian Alfredo Lasagna Rolls with a creamy cheese sauce and spelt pasta need not be prepared by your Nonna and is also enormously satisfying!
