Albert’s Leap is an unconventional name for a cheese shop but an appropriate one once you learn about the story behind the shop. Albert’s Lead describes the time when Albert, cheesemaker and owner, went on a little cheese pilgrimage. He was looking to offer Canadians something they had never seen before, but something that he knew that they would love.
Thus, he embarked on a backpack journey across Europe where he ended up stumbling upon a beautiful regional cheese. While Europeans have their own name for it, it’s known here as Albert’s Full Leap Brie.
To commemorate Albert’s ‘leap’ across the Atlantic, the cheese shop was named in his honour. Albert’s Leap represents the unique, quality European cheese offerings that are studied and brought back to Canada to be hand crafted with the care and passion that only Albert can demonstrate.
Next week we’re featuring Albert’s Leap Brie Cheese (Albert’s favourite!) in our Apple and Brie Quesadillas. Brie is a soft, cow’s milk cheese has a mild flavour and is oh-so decadent once it’s melted. We elevate the quesadillas with crisp, tart granny smith apples and caramelized onions to create a beautiful dish that highlights the fall bounty!
