Nutritional Yeast is not exactly an appetizing name, but we promise that once you try it in our recipes – you’ll be hooked! We love the “cheeze” it adds to our Thai Curry Mac and Cheeze recipe.
Here are our top 3 reasons why we love Nutritional Yeast and why we think you will too:
It has a ton of nutrients, is rich in folate, and is a great source of protein (approximately 8g per 1 oz). It’s also a good source of B vitamins which aid in optimal mental function, healthy red blood cells and releasing energy from food – who doesn’t want more energy?!
Nutritional Yeast has a fantastic nutty, creamy and cheesy flavour that a lot people love for its similarity to parmesan cheese. We’re not sure about that but it is pretty darn delicious!
As a topping or even as a replacement for cheese – there are so many ways that you can use Nutritional Yeast to add extra nutrients, protein and flavour. It can replace cheese in most recipes – you can sprinkle it on top of pasta or salad or even use it to flavour popcorn.
That’s great you say, but what is it exactly?
Nutritional yeast is a deactivated yeast and fungus (it is delicious, we promise), but remember – baker’s yeast and nutritional yeast are very different. Nutritional yeast has many health benefits but it won’t help a loaf of bread rise!
